I'm looking to get an idea of what hardware people have in their PCs, mainly interested in PCs bought or build since 2000, meaning they have an 800MHz CPU or better. What video card, sound card, how much memory, what size hard drive etc. Why? We (BeDrivers.com) are looking to see what BeOS drivers would be most needed in the near future to assure the best user experience for current and future users of BeOS.

I'll post a poll here for a few catagories and we'll see how things rank.
Reply to this thread with your PC config if you like.

I chose 1-1.5. I have dual p3 1ghz running on a VP6. I could've chose 2ghz though icon_razz.gif 2x1ghz icon_smile.gif
Anyhow, other things I have are...
geforce ddr, sblive, bt848 compat tv card, usb wheel mouse, two ide HD (one 20gb ata66, one ata100 40gb), 15" lcd monitor ( icon_biggrin.gif ) , 768MB of pc133 cheapo generic ram. That's about it icon_smile.gif

This is just a thought, It would be AMAZING to get some initiative going maybe when refraction is a bit more mature, having a standard interface for scanning. maybe a port of SANE? I have an HP3400C usb scanjet and it would be great to use this in BeOS, but seeing as there's not much support (if any) for it in SANE, I doubt we could get it working in the future. Anyhow, something to think about, eh? icon_smile.gif

My box is a PIII 600Mhz, 256mbyte RAM, a 20 and 40 gig IDE hard drive, Yamaha YMF724 based sound card, Siig firewire card, Voodoo 3500 graphics.

Just got a Sony Vaio. It's a 2.2ghz P IV, 512 mbyte RAM, 120gig hd, Pioneer DVD -RW drive, Realtek nic, SIS670 graphics chip.
I'd love to have BeOS work on this rig. Haven't had time to experiment yet. (It is the wife's machine).

I voted #3, though my current computer is a celeron 400. But i'm (as of yesterday) putting together a new computer running a XP 1800+, so I VOTED USING THAT ONE!!! MWAHAHA icon_twisted.gif

It'll have a Radeon 8500 (which works in BeOS, though not 100% perfect), an IBM 80GB 7200rpm HDD, a SB Live! Value, Realtek 8139 NIC, Samsung DVD drive (ST-616T) and a Ricoh/Aopen 12x10x32 CD-RW drive.

Take care,
DaaT

right now p233mmx icon_sad.gif

been holding off, hoping to be able to guess a bit better
on what obos will run, so as not to have to change too
much hardware when it releases.

and on beos performance is not too bad, but for the windows
side much to be wished for

I use en AMD Athlon XP 1800+ and an ECS Ks6a mainboard with 1024mB DDR 240gB HDD 7200rpm.

My graphics card ir rather peculiar because it doesent work with any submitted drivers at bebits (ATI Radeon VE 100 64mB). Therefore i also have an Geforce 2 MX400 DDR 32mB PCI installed.

And i also had some problems with my Hauppge WinTV card but i canged PCI slot and now it is running perfectly.
