O BONE é BeOS Network Environment. Quando a Be ainda existia, seria o futuro substituto do net_server (que não presta mesmo). Mas devido aos acontecimentos que conhecemos, nunca foi acabado, ficou sempre em Beta. A última versão é a 7a, embora julgue que a que vem no Dano é um pouco mais recente que essa.
