Hi,
Has anyone here managed to install and boot BeOS Dev Edition 1.1 on a HPT370 Ultra ATA/100 HDD Controller ? I've tried sourcing the internet for more infomation but its getting nowhere. I can't seem to find much infomation about this topic. My HDD controller is supported under the lists of drivers found in the BeOS Dev Edition 1.1 cd. I've also tried the IDE Replacement driver by writing the image to a floppy and booting off it so that i can install BeOS Dev Edition 1.1 from the cd. The HDD controller seems to be detected and I can format my harddisk with BFS. After installation and rebooting, bootman complains that it can't find the active partition. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks!

mmmmmmmmmmm.... it seems, from your words, that you only use the Ide Replacement Driver to boot the Installation CD, and do not install it on the BeOS partition. Upon boot, use the floppy with the driver again, then when in BeOS, install the IRD, then reboot this time without the floppy. See if it works.
Good luck,
DaaT

Let me suggest a different test.
Use a bootfloppy (the IDE replacement one) to boot into BeOS. (or a bootable Becd) Catch the boot at "Loading..." by pressing the space bar. You might not see the words so you might have to hold the bar down at boot. You should get to a safe mode screen. If BeOS is found installed then you should get at least one or more choices. If you get more than one then bootman might be picking the wrong partition to boot?? This might happen if you tried to put an install on more than once?
What ever the reason you should be able to boot into beos from the floppy with a safe mode choice of boot to if it is installed. I think the Dev edtion does have the replacement IDE driver already and the trouble is with the bootman menu. See if you can get beos booted.

Hmm......Thanks for the help guys! I'll re-install BeOS now! On a second note, how do you install the IDE replacement driver from within BeOS ?
Note: I had to use a boot floppy to boot the install cd because the kernel in the dev cd can't seem to locate my HPT370 controller...

http://bebits.com/app/2625 has the work that Thomas did. I think I read that Dev had support for it already. If not go to bebits and get that info.

Thanks for the help guys! I managed to install BeOS and boot it on my system. I used the grub bootloader to boot BeOS. It works just fine. Thanks!
