Just got a new computer with P4 & WindowsXP, when trying to restart in BeOs with a floppy I get the message "boot loader unable to find BeOs volume to boot from".
Any cures for this would be greatly appreciated.

The NTFS version 5.something is the cause. IF you remove indexing it might work. Otherwise you will need a fat or ext2/3/.

You got me there...I just got the disc & installed it. If you have a second, fill me in on what you are suggesting I do in "new to BeOS" terms.

Actually I assume that you installed the BeOS Personal Edition from BeBits? Tell me if youu have another distro .
The PE version installs to a FAT/Ext2,3 or NTFS file system as a large single file. BeOS does what old linux did and uses a filesystem within a filesystem to run BeOS. Some computers running NTFS4 and 5 just will not allow BeOS to boot for various reasons to this virtual filesystem.(filesystem within a filesystem)
Most people use a FAT formatted partiton to install BeOS on to in the case of the WindowsXP.
goofy browser can't backspace on this page very well.

You will have to make a new partiton or add in a new drive to install BeOS on. I suspect that you have Personal Edition. It doesn't like NTFS on some machines.
