Not saying I'm impatient, ...
but YES, I am.
Are we looking at a February release date now, or would March be more likely?

I think they'll announce ... a focus shift next week. (j/k)

I have to agree...
I don't mind waiting but YellowTab should be updating their website telling "US", the CUSTOMER, what the status of the product is.
WE buy the product...keeping our interest should be utmost in their minds.
Little things like - "We shipped another Beta to testers last week" or "we are collating test results" or "we found some nasty bugs are and are fixing them with another Beta after that planned."
Anything...something. A company that doesn't give you updates on what it's doing to keep your interest isn't trying to keep your interest.
WE are the CUSTOMERS YellowTab...give up some information.
WE deserve it.

I think they are just too busy doing what they are supposed to do that they don't have time to update www pages. I think it might be that they have most of the little amount of workers finishing the product and they don't think that updating the www pages is the highest priority right now now.

Maybe and I'm sure that's true...but honestly we all kow how long it takes to add a sentence or two to a web page.
If you don't give your customers information when they want it...you find you have less customers.

They will live or die by BeOS community interest, I think. I would like to see them take-up the behavior that Be, Inc. had prior to their public ownership: public bug database, open communication, friendly, up to date info, etc...

I hope too that this silence and mysterious athmosphere will eventually fade and they really start to communicate with us, the end-users. I know I've gotten few words from loon and Bernd, but most was because I begged and begged that they would say something and answer my questions.
One thing is that they have to still learn is that for a good company, every publicly visible person really should understand fluent English. It's not very appealing that users must take high school level German lessons to get pre-release information.

I couldn't agree more. I've used BeOS since r4 and remember those days when Be Inc. was realy "user-friendly" in their communication with us, users. They had nice web site, and lots of Be's developers were on BeUSerTalk answering any question.
But, after Maui and focus-shift, it all changed.
Yellow Tab reminds me of Be Inc. after going public.
Just an updated road map, or small updates of state of Zeta once a week would be great.

I always imagined they'd be more talkative once their product is out the door and they are able to put out the detailed info.
Now, OTOH, that they have a 75% investor...
Who's the investor, what are its motives and how do those go together with Yellowtab's original plans on open sourceing as much as possible (using OBOS stuff)? Will it be Be Inc. all over again?
The future, misty it is. But there's another hope: OBOS!

I won't mind at all if not much of Zeta is open-sourced. If I wasn't happy with using a commercial OS in the first place, I wouldn't have bought BeOS 4.5 and 5.0 Professional in the past.
If Zeta makes it possible for me to again boot into BeOS with my nForce mainboard (the current "MAX edition" won't let me do this, despite the AthlonXP patch), I'll instantly buy it.
BTW, does anyone know if they still plan to include the Code Liege IDE? That would be quite interesting.
