from the Yellow Tab web site:

The end goal of the project will allow for more common security tools and eventually the development of a complete multi-user system as seen in other operating systems like Linux or BSD. Environments that will benefit from this development include corporate offices, education institutes, and individuals who are keen on being secure.

Multi-user and secure. Ssounds like they mean Business.

It think a real business model is needed. The fine workmanship at beos was directed at the common user. QNX and Redhat are still providing a product that runs industrial processes and applications. I would love to sell BeOS as a better OS. (IT IS!) Just the fact that the fast boot up would save companies down time could be measured in millions of dollars and then a desktop for the user.

I sure hope another of the Stegemann's great works finds it's way into the core of Zeta - the capability to transfer BFS file attributes in FTP sessions! icon_biggrin.gif

Yes, but they are aiming directly at the business desktop. Look out Windows and Linux, a real OS is on its way.

Bad news though, my dad works for a company that is a part of the "ING Group". As most of you know ING, internationally better known as "ING Direct", is one of the world's top-10 largest banking corporations.

Recent news states they refreshed their contract with M$ which guarantees another cooperation between both companies for the next 3 years. Worldwide ALL systems will be upgraded to new desktop PC's running XP Pro (can a company make a larger mistake than this?) to "improve efficiency and improved international connections" (insert your own comments here).

So at least for now this large company isn't an option, just thought it would be interesting to let you know about it... (I know it's not the end of the world, duh!).

bbjimmy, don't think Zeta will be the ruin of M$, because it won't, that won't happen..

But of course, we wish them all the luck and that they reach a very nice niche (for now) market.

I didn't read that in there. I don't think Multi-user can/will happen with this deal. At least, depending on your definition of "multi-user". A login screen, maybe. But full scale, true multiuser requires work in the kernel to be done, and not just a little work either. icon_sad.gif

I think i may have read that wrong. Wont a logon screen allow more than one person to use that OS?. I was thinking of user accounts and persmissions ect... or is this offbase as well.
