I'll keep the reading to a minimum, as some of you are anxious to get the latest
beta. Well, head on over to the Xentronics Download Page now, and get your
fix. It might be a few minutes, as the mirrors are making sure they have the file
first, before officially announcing the new Beta.. Smart idea, no? icon_wink.gif

you have to remove the PatternAddon to get it working......

YNOP, just one question: "did you bother testing it before you released it?"

YNOP did not even see the beta before I released it.

The pattern addon crashes 1 out of 50 times on my system. I know that this is not the way to go, but we had some lawyers in my backyard to sue us when we did not release a proof of name-change before 1 July 2002.

The pattern addon is the only floater that still needs to be removed from the package, just like we did with the brush and gradient addons.

We will start to release regular updates of this beta, so this would be helped quite soon.

Frans van Nispen,
Xentronix.

So far, it starts every time for me. Even better is the updated Wacom driver actually works for my Graphire 2 pad icon_smile.gif

Still playing around to see what I can actually do with it. It won't open the TIF files from my digital camera but it opens all the jpegs. That's a good start...

Frans has fixed the PatternAddon module, and it's a simple drop and replace for that.

Grab the 27k file from: https://beosjournal.org/xentronix/PatternAddon.zip

We'll be watching Refraction closely in the next few weeks, as we contemplate doing a full review for our loyal readership... icon_mrgreen.gif

Would it be possible to generally speed up the filters? Or if not, atleast make it so that if you "proof" a filter, and then click OK, it wont be rendered again......

Except for that its great...

The crash on the patternAddo is strange, as it does not crash on all systems and it only uses the plain BeOS API. I will work tis out in the next few days with the help of Bruno A. as he has a system where it crashes and one that works ok.

About the filters:

All our filters use our BAC (Bitmap Access Class) that makes sure they all are able to work on just the selected part and that you are enabled to filter just a single color channel.

If you disable Red in the layerWindow Channels, it will not be touched by a filter.

We are continuously trying to improve the speed of our BAC, but some routines are still in development and not 100% optimized because of that.

Also I spend a lot of time making the filters as multi-threaded as possible.

So basically the filters will be speed up, yes.

Are there particulat filters to whom you refere ?

there are probably specific once, but i dont remember which once:-D

btw, i had two layers.
the background one was blue
the other once was transparent, and had the same color on the text, only it was in rendermode:"blended"

then i apply Motion blur to the textlayer, and suddenly it is white and non transparent.......

didnt look good:-)
believe that it shouldnt be that way....

on closer look it seems like all motion blurs are rendered with a white background........should be fixed
