From the zathros-genorosity department...
I'm alive, and in one piece. I've made it finally to Rotterdam, Netherlands, and will be updating The BeOSJournal shortly with the latest BeOS news from around the community. Lots to come, more site changes are coming soon, after we work the bugs out.
Also to note... we have a new backend story submission system, and we'd like to announce a public beta testing period of 2 weeks. To help out, please head over to https://beosjournal.org/admin and log in with: public/public ...... Feel free to submit stories to the database. It's not live YET... ;-) Thanks! More to come.... gotta run.

From the doing-europe department...
Well, I made it to Amsterdam in one piece. I'm typing this in via my web based admin system, from a rather large 24hour internet cafe (it roxors)... More updates to the site coming soon, when I get my computer shipped from Canada, eh. More news as it happens. I couldn't make it to BeGeistert, but there will be one in the fall, and I WILL be there. Gotta run. Peace!
Gobe Releases GP 3.0
27 March 2002, 17:22gmt, by , Senior Journalist
From the xp-killer department...
Great news for Gobe Productive fans using windows. Gobe recently announced that Gobe Productive Suite 3.0 for Windows is now available for purchase.
Even if you do not use windows all that much, you might still want to consider purchasing a copy anyhow, as Gobe has indicated in the past that if sales of the windows version seems positive, they would consider porting it back to the BeOS platform.
The folks over at Slashdot are chatting up a storm. Check it out, and pitch in your own thoughts...
Gateway Testifies About Microsoft.
26 March 2002, 17:59gmt, by , Senior Journalist
From the there-is-hope department...
Things are starting to heat up in the DOJ vs Microsoft trial lately. Gateway recently testified about the treatment OEM's receive by Microsoft.
The more companies that testify against Microsoft, the better the chances will be for Be Inc. in court to win their suit. That's the opinion of this journalist, anyhow... ;)
Find more details at the Microsoft Case Page at the Department of Justice website.
New Host Coming.
26 March 2002, 16:11gmt, by , Senior Journalist
From the upgrade-this department...
The BeOS Journal will be getting a new webhost, graciously sponsored by Complexero, fine folks who really care about the BeOS Community.
What this means is that the .ORG domain will be transferred to the new host so that we can start working with php, mysql and more.
The .NET address will remain at the current host, as is, so that we have something to fall back on when we break something scripting-wise... ;) So, please update your bookmarks to load the .NET address for now, we'll let you know when the .ORG address is ready to roll. Or, you can just check it out yourself.
Can you tell we're excited as clams in a boiling pot? Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee!

From the doth-beos-live department...
There is a very interesting article at OsOpinion that talks about the top 10 things Apple should do in the year 2002. What we find most surprising are the various suggestions that involve BeOS. The #1 suggestion for Apple is to purchase Palm, and use their newfound Engineering Tech. Hmmm... ;)

BeOS R5.0.4 Developer Release.
17 March 2002, 16:00gmt, by , Senior Journalist
From the out-of-the-blue department...
We don't know what to make of this release over at BeOSOnline but it is certainly an exciting bit of news, to say the least.
Our german is a -lot- rusty, but it appears to be a fully fledged R5.0.4 image file, with a number of applications and drivers thrown in for good measure.
Anyone that can read german and tell us why they are doing this Developer release (as it's called there), please let The BeOS Journal know right away so our non-german readership can know too. Thank you!
(March 19th, 00:15gmt - UPDATE) There is now an English translation on their page at: http://www.beosonline.com/index.php?seite=english
